Disease Intervention Specialist - RN Date Posted: December 24, 2020 Application Deadline: Open until filled Salary Range: Grade 20 $21.19/hour Job Type: Part Time or Full Time Hours/Days: Varied Hours, M-F but some weekends may be required ABOUT THE POSITION/DEPARTMENT: The Disease Intervention Specialist is a position with the Dawson County Health Department and could be part-time or full time, M-F, but some weekends may be required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Community Health, Public Health, Epidemiology, Nursing or a closely related degree. Master of Public Health degree preferred. One year of job-related experience in public health preferred. Valid Driver's License and automobile insurance. Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 65% of your duties will be to conduct timely investigations with people with confirmed or suspected communicable diseases such as STIs and COVID-19. Manage patient panels of those with confirmed or suspected diseases under investigation using established protocols including ongoing interviews and patient follow up, tracking of relationships/contacts, case management and documentation. Coordinate referrals to clinic setting for specimen collection and/or additional healthcare needs based on established protocol. Communicate effectively and responsibly by establishing rapport, assertively confronting issues and resolving patient concerns. 15% of your duties will be to assist in accomplishing grant related deliverables. Maintains periodic reporting to various stakeholders. Assist with designing and conducting basic program evaluation activities. 10% of your duties will be to develop and conduct various training or education sessions, consultations with State and Local health stakeholders. 10% of your duties will be to respond to public health emergencies as needed. HOURS/DAYS: Varied days, M-F, possibly some weekends may be required. Could be Part time or Full time. Days and times will be discussed at the interview.
