Operator I - Dawson County Road Department
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation and one year of experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of heavy equipment, welding and safety procedures, road construction and concrete. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; effectively and appropriately communicate; understand and comply with laws, regulations, policy and directives interact effectively and appropriately with public and employees. Must maintain a valid Montana Commercial Driver's license (CDL), or be able to obtain one within six (6) months of employment, occupational certification for heavy equipment operation and other endorsements as mandated by law and/or policy. Must maintain occupational certification as a forklift/loader operator, flagger and motor grader operator as awarded by the Montana Local Technical Assistance Program. Use hand-tools, follow written/verbal instructions and communicate effectively.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will operate heavy equipment; plow snow and sand icy roads; blade roads; haul gravel, scoria, tar pot and other materials and equipment to jobsites; change water channels; install culverts, car gates and cattle guards; operate rollers to prepare road beds; install and maintain bridge markers and street signs; build concrete retaining walls; fill washouts, mow road shoulders, make minor repairs to equipment.
Full-time position working 40 hours per week.
