CASCADE COUNTY Deputy Public Works Director in GREAT FALLS, Montana

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Business Management, Environmental Science, or closely related field. Or a combination of related education and experience totaling 5 years that include 3 years of progressively responsible experience in road maintenance or construction, planning or environmental science and 2 years of supervisory experience. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training relevant to the position totaling 7 years that include 2 years of supervisory experience. Valid Montana Driver's License.Duties: The Deputy Public Works Director assists the Public Works Director in directing, managing, supervising and coordinating the activities and operations of the Public Works Department. In the absence of the Public Works Director, performs as interim Public Works Director. Coordinates assigned activities with Division Managers within the Public Works Department and reports to the Director. Interacts with contractors and developers and provides highly responsible and complex technical support to the Director. This position performs complex supervisory, administrative and professional work in coordinating, organizing and assisting with the direction of various operations of the Public Works Department, which includes the Building Maintenance Division, ExpoPark Maintenance Division, Fleet Maintenance Division, GIS Division, Planning Division, Road & Bridge Division, Radio & Telecommunications Division and the Weed & Mosquito Division in accordance with the standards and general policies established the Board of County Commissioners. The nature of the work performed requires the Deputy Director to establish and maintain close, cooperative working relationships with the Director, Budget Office, Human Resources, supervisors, department employees and the general public.
