Development Director (Designing Fundraising Opportunities)Department: DevelopmentReports to: CEOExempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt, approximately .25 FTEWork Schedule: To be determinedWork Location: Remote from any major community in MontanaEffective Date: Immediate, open until filledNote: 1 year onlyMISSIONThe mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.POSITIONThis Development Director position is a fundraising position which is primarily responsible for designing and implementing new and sustainable fundraising opportunities. The position works under the direct supervision of the CEO in collaboration with a team of other Development Directors.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESBridge fundraising-related communication between state and local programs.Design fundraising programs as directed.Envision new fundraising opportunities.Develop sustainable components of fundraising programs as directed.Oversee the design and production of necessary materials for assigned fundraising programs.Market fundraising programs as needed.Organize and file information as needed.Implement assigned fundraising programs statewide.Lead other staff, area programs, and donors to implement assigned fundraising programs.Special Event management.Assess and adjust fundraising programs as needed.Work within a budget.Work within an assigned budget.Assume responsibilities for assigned fundraising expectations.Monitor fundraising implementation(s).Adjust implementation of fund raisers as needed.Steward, cultivate, solicit, and appreciate a portfolio of donors.Maintain consistent mission-centric communication with an assigned portfolio of donors and partners.Make face-to-face visits with donors and partners as needed.Engage in ongoing relationship development with donors.Grant ManagementResearch Grant opportunities.Write and submit grants as assigned.Work within a team to proofread, provide constructive feedback, and support other grant writers as needed.Maintain and manage grant writing and grant reporting responsibilities independently.Organize and maintain an electronic grant calendar, grant resources, and grant files.Organizational ResponsibilitiesParticipate in organizational meetings as assigned.Develop and nurture relationships within the organization.Commit to annual planning.Attention to annual goals.Complete annual performance review.Develop partnerships on a statewide level.Accountability for risk management.Steward organizational brand integrity.Promotion of inter-department relationships.Other duties as assigned.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSBA/BS degree preferred.Direct fundraising experience preferred.Thinks creatively.Ability to manage organizational relationships using Blackbaud RE/NXT.Highly organized and able to conduct planning processes with deadlines.Anticipates and solve problems.Reliability in matters requiring confidentiality.Develops and maintains staff and volunteer relationships.Demonstrates collaborative skills and ability to function effectively within a team.Volunteer management skills that include the ability to lead, motivate, retain, and appreciate volunteers.Intermediate to advanced technology skills and willingness to learn current programs. (Microsoft 365, GMS, etc.)Positive energy and a commitment to excellence.Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.Weekday, weekend, and overnight travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.Ability to work remotely in a home office setting.Some outdoor work is required for special events that may include inclement weather.Ability to lift minimum of
