Job Description

Assists the Payroll Administrator with administering and processing the weekly payroll activities of a high-volume, multi-state centralized payroll process, with a focus on the Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) payroll. Performs tasks to prepare and process biweekly and weekly payrolls at ESGW. Ensures the accuracy of timecard records entered into the time and attendance and payroll systems. Works to ensure all payroll functions are accurate, timely and reliable. Ensures the customer service provided by the Payroll department is timely and above expectations, including payroll related information requests. Critically reviews and analyzes current procedures in order to recommend and implement changes to improve efficiencies and effectiveness. Assists with the preparation and reconciliation of all payroll tax and unemployment reports by maintaining accurate and timely information. Performs a variety of routine office/clerical duties such as filing, coding, posting, typing, and other duties as required and assigned.

Required Skills

  • Communicates effectively both written and orally with customers, other co-workers, and clients.

  • Experience with Sage HRMS, Empower, and August Systems payroll software packages preferred.

  • Office experience plus knowledge of calculator and word processing and spreadsheet programs required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility and community.

  • Applicant must be physically and mentally able to perform all requirements of the job.

  • Available to work overtime as needed.

  • Applicant must pass a background check.

Required Experience

  • High School/Equivalent

  • Good math/accounting aptitude required.

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designation preferred.

  • 0-2 years

  • Related experience in bookkeeping/accounting/payroll training.
