JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT

As an Research Agronomist, part of the role requires you to work with the Plant Development Team to run and maintain research plots. The private research trials that you handle will be used for the evaluation of new varieties with commercial potential. Part of your duties will include working with research and support teams to prioritize resources efficiently to meet business objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operate small plot equipment such as seeders, sprayers, and combines.
Maintain research equipment to support a high-performance research program.
Provide training, mentorship, and mentoring to team members.
Participate in and comply with safety regulations and other procedural compliance regulations.
Partner with the research and development teams to evaluate data collection from nursery and yield trials.
Collaborate with the Plant Development Team to run research trials involving all aspects of agronomic trial management including seeding, spraying, maintenance, harvest, and data submission.
Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or two year degree with equivalent experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
Ability to work flexible hours with potential holidays and weekends
Valid driver’s license in good standing
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Ability to travel 10% of the time to support other Cargill locations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License
Possession of a Pesticide’s Applicator’s License
Agriculture related field experience
Experience in research trial activities/processes
Experience in Agriculture with small plot management
