POSITION TITLE: Youth Ministry Director
STATUS: Regular- Full-Time, Non-Exempt
PAY: $18.00/hour

Position Summary:
The Youth Ministry Director is responsible for the overall supervision of outreach or spiritual content provided for youth at the Corps. The Director should be a person of genuine and deepened Christian character, of emotional, mental and physical stamina, and a loyal participant of a ministry team, able to work well and cultivate trust with other people in a growing congregation.
This person must represent The Salvation Army in a positive manner at all times in personal conduct and appearance. This person should have experience with a variety of Salvation Army programs and Christmas Programs and possess a working knowledge of Salvation Army Policies and Procedures. This person should be capable of making independent judgments with the approval of, but independent of constant supervision from, the Corps Officer(s), including, but not limited to, managing staff and volunteers, etc.
Essential Functions:
Corps Program:
Assist the Corps Officers as needed with Corps programs including, but not limited to: Sunday School classes, Sunday morning worship services, fellowship times, outreach activities, Social services bridging efforts, visitation, Bible studies, Women’s or Men’s meetings and camp, recruiting Junior soldiers, recruiting congregation members for volunteer positions, transportation, youth programs and Corps Reviews.
Provide support for and, in most cases, attend Divisional and Territorial programs such as camp meetings, Congress, etc.
Ensure TSA youth programs are implemented and run efficiently, ensuring there is a variety of outreach and spiritual development programs that promote biblical character and growth (Programs and activities to include, but not limited to: Teen group, Troops, Junior Soldiers, Corps Cadets, Junior church, Summer program including camp, VBS, day camp, seasonal activities during Easter, Christmas, etc.).
Provide support to social services, the youth center, outreach programs and adult programs as needed. Focusing on building connections with parents and children that utilize other services of our Corps.
Actively participate in the Christmas fundraising Kettle program as requested including but not limited to driving, devotions, counting, supervision of volunteers.
Actively participate in Social Services Christmas programs, Angel tree and Christmas toy/food distribution as requested.
Work a nonstandard work week generally in accordance with The Salvation Army programs, Sundays, evenings, camp schedules, Divisional weekend events and special Saturday events.
Strengthen relationships with children and their families through visiting the neighborhood, corps attendees, social services, youth center and other corps programs
Recruitment, training, development and coordination of leaders and volunteers for corps ministry youth programs. Where volunteers cannot be secured, be prepared to lead programs as needed.
Coordinate Corps transportation needs
Promote and recruit youth to participate and volunteer in corps ministry and outreach.
Administration:
Coordinate and assist in the collection of stats and data entry of same
When involved in the collection of monies, work with Office assistant to ensure all income is accounted for and reported per TSA policy.
Work with Admin Assistant to process any youth related invoices.
Assist as requested with audio/video equipment operated by computer in the chapel, and other areas for programs hosted by the corps.
Assist as needed with the production of various flyers and documents for ministries.
Vehicles and Property:
Make every effort to help keep the Corps building and vehicles clean, especially during and after programs.
Assist the Corps Officers as requested with special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a High School graduate or equivalent. College Degree in Ministry field Desired.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with youth.
Must submit to and pass a background check.
Must complete Protecting the Mission – child safety training.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be a minimum of 21 years old.
Must complete TSA Driver’s Safety test and MVR check.
Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License to drive a passenger bus within 90 days.
Must agree to attend membership classes within 6 months, have an understanding of Salvation Army doctrines and agree to adhere to them.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Knowledge of The Salvation Army programs, policies, and procedures is a plus

Parental Leave: Benefit will be one week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee’s normal rate of pay for births, adoptions and foster placements.
Sick Leave: 12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months’ service time.
Paid Vacation: 2 weeks annually accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. 4 weeks annually accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months’ service time.
Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
