We are currently hiring for a Saddle Club Ranch Hand to join our Equestrian team! The purpose of the Ranch Hand is to provide support of the operations of The Resort at Paw Up Equestrian Center and the services provided. THIS IS NOT A COWBOYING JOB, but rather a position which supports an equine operation .

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as tractors and Skid Steers

  • Building maintenance: lightbulbs, loose screws, faulty door handles, painting and staining, basic electrical and plumbing etc.

  • Trash removal and outdoor trash pick up as needed

  • Basic mechanical work (fixing the power washer, basic tractor maintenance, basic truck maintenance, basic auto-waterer maintenance, electric fence repair)

  • Fencing (wire, wood, electric) for all types of animals in all types of weather conditions (if I have goats and other small critters, or cows that can jump fencing, or if snow builds up in areas over the winter, how to set wire height properly), and old fence removal

  • Constantly looking for ways to give the exterior of the facility a “facelift” in terms up updating and sprucing things up from outdoor fixtures to hot walkers that need painted, etc.

  • Hanging gates (so that they are level and can swing both ways)

  • Perform preventative maintenance

  • Power washing, cleaning and detailing all ranch vehicles weekly.

  • Harrowing of pastures

  • Weed management

  • Cleaning and organizing of tools, outbuildings, barn and other work spaces

  • Ranch welding (will the gate work again when you are done welding it?) and metal work (will the steel panel be straight again after you’ve heated and pounded on it?)

  • Snow plowing in winter

  • Grooming and leveling arena weekly to bi-weekly depending on use

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High school diploma, GED or vocational training

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

  • 3+ years’ experience in farm/ranch machinery and tools

  • Demonstrated experience with the daily care and handling of horses, general stable keeping, and moderate-duty ranch work.

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

  • Ability to drive and operate a truck with 40’ trailer

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
