CIRCLE B GRAIN INC General Farm in HARLEM, Montana

Temporary full-time position from 2/15/2024 to 11/15/2024. Seasonal duties for cattle production: Worker will be asked to assist with calving, and may be asked to work split shifts during this period. During this period, worker will be sorting and moving cows into pens and corrals and then out to pasture after they have calved. Worker will be asked to assist with vaccinating/tagging and banding calves. No feeding is required during summer months when cattle are grazing on pasture grass. Worker will then again assist with livestock in the Fall for weaning and shipping. At this point cattle are moved into feed pens, sometimes for up to a month. Cattle are shipped in November. 4 wheelers are used for moving cows. No seasonal labor is required between mid-November to mid-February as these are the non-productive months. The workers will be required to repair and maintain fencing . Fencing requires a great deal of hand labor and will begin as soon as the ground thaws and will continue into the fall before the freeze. Workers will be required to utilize fencing equipment and hand tools for digging and tamping post holes, stretching and nailing wire, pulling weeds. Seasonal duties for farm production: Worker will be required to pick rocks from field in preparation for planting. Irrigation begins in June and requires worker to work split shifts. 4 wheelers are used for irrigation. Worker will drive tractor to move hay bales. Worker will be required to drive tandem truck and smaller equipment to haul and deliver grain and hay from field to ranch and market. Worker will be required to have or obtain a Drivers' License. Worker will work long hours during harvest. Worker will be asked to repair and maintain equipment. Must be willing and able to occasionally live and work independently or in small groups of workers in isolated areas for extended periods of time. Most duties are performed out of doors, and entail exposure to snakes and other predators; as well as heat, cold, dust, rain, snow and other environmental conditions. Worker must be able to crouch, bend, lift and carry up to 100 pounds. ITINERARY February-November February:Trailing cattle to calving grounds =using side by side to trail behind a tractor that leads them with bale of hay March-May: Calving= helping with the watching for problems calving/watching for health problems with calf. This will be mostly daytime needed help as we use cameras and can watch nighttime. Hours may be longer at this time during bad weather. May/June: will bring field work, using rock picker to prepare field for planting. Some maintenance on tractors and implements. Repairing fences for cattle to be put on grass after calving. Flood irrigating alfalfa fields. Setting tarps in ditches for this. July: Maintenance on hay equipment, swathing hay/baling hay/moving hay from field and stacking it. Mostly round bales but some small square. Help maintain fence lines August: Haying, irrigating, fencing, Maintenance on harvest machinery. September; preconditioning calves for fall sale (rounding up, sorting, putting through chute for vaccinating), repairing corrals/fences, grain harvesting=driving grain trucks to and from field, using auger to fill grain bins October: Cleaning corrals/feed pens using bucket tractors for fall calves, repairing fences, repairing corrals. Nov: Cattle are shipped in November.
