Hill County (PT) Public Health Nurse in Havre, Montana

Job Title: Public Health Nurse Department: Health DepartmentType:(1) Part-time (20 hrs per week) Accountable To: Health OfficerWage: $25.80/hrPosition is dependent on grant funding applications are accepted until filled Job Overview: Under the Task Order from MTDPHHS, this nurse will work under the Montana Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) to coordinate lead poisoning prevention-related activities in Hill County. Provide lead screening and environmental assessments to prevent lead poisoning. Initiate and maintain complete documentation of services for each client this will include a collection of demographic information, environmental assessment, blood lead screening, referral data; maintain client records according to Montana state and Federal requirements; and ensure confidentiality of all client information. Work with local healthcare providers regarding blood lead screening and testing. Develop, update and share talking points or educational materials for providers. This public health nurse will be tasked with implementing the task order requirements for the program throughout the grant period, which runs 9/30/2024 - 9/29/2025. This position is dependent on grant funding.Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities): Under the direction of health department personnel, the Public Health Nurse position requires ability to use a variety of medical testing, analyzing, and treatment equipment and perform required nursing procedures. Perform CPR, perform finger sticks, communicate orally and in writing, travel, enter and exit a variety of buildings, lift a heavy child and support adult weight, be a good listener, maintain accurate records, operate a computer, prepare reports. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): The above knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to: -Graduation from an accredited program of nursing.-Successful completion of licensing examinationPreferred prior experience: -Medical-Surgical and Pediatric nursing or-Public Health -Physician’s office -Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Montana-Current certification in Basic Life Support: Adult and Child-Valid Montana driver’s license, and have a personal vehicle available as needed.
