About the Team
AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students and of educators from both secondary schools and higher education. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. Following a decade of rapid growth and expansion in access, Advanced Placement currently faces a range of pressing strategic questions, such as, "How do we support students in under-resourced environments?" and, "How do we effectively support the more than 150,000 educators teaching AP courses around the country and world?" In response to those questions, AP is undergoing an unprecedented investment that shifts the core model from a single assessment to a full year experience and expands the set of AP courses to better meet the demands of preparing high school students to succeed in college and career.
In this role, you would be joining the Strategy and Analytics team; a versatile, high-performing group of individuals, relied upon to lead the range of high-value strategic projects with a focus on maximizing the reach of the Advanced Placement Program. Our goal is to serve a broader range of high school students on courses and credit opportunities that best accelerate them to and through college.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Director of Analytics and Strategic Initiatives in AP, you are charged with developing and delivering evidence-based, actionable, strategic recommendations in service of the Program's top priorities, and with executing the analyses required to arrive at those recommendations. You'll thrive when handling multiple projects, and can adapt, respond quickly, and innovate. You possess an exceptional ability to apply data to guide decisions and to understand the limitations of data. As you will support multiple, simultaneous projects aimed at defining the future of AP and how the program serves millions of students, you ideally possess a deep commitment to students.
In this role, you will:
Design and execute projects to address complex strategic issues at both the Program and product level
Evaluate new product development ideas with respect to mission and economic impact, market trends, and competitive positioning
Pursue a rigorous, fact-based understanding of our multiple market audiences (e.g., secondary and higher education)
Transform raw data into actionable strategic knowledge using superb analytical acumen, critical thinking, and communication skills
Partner with diverse executives and managers in supporting, facilitating, and developing business and product strategies
Represent AP on high-impact, cross-functional, cross-divisional initiatives spanning a variety of topics (e.g., expanding access for underrepresented students)
7+ years of relevant experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, education or product development/management, or similar environment
Experience scoping client needs
A successful track-record in two or more of the following: growth strategy, market analysis and segmentation, financial diligence, competitive response, salesforce optimization, risk analysis, and new product evaluation/launch
Demonstrated ability to apply an analytical, data-driven approach to decision-making
Advanced data analysis skills, extensive experience with financial and non-financial modeling, and exceptional aptitude in data visualization and written presentations
A demonstrated interest in learning and applying new tools to do your work faster and better
Exceptional communication, public presentation, and advocacy skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of senior constituents
Knowledge of secondary schools' operations and culture, especially through first-hand work
Bachelor's degree is required; MBA or other advanced degree is preferred
If remote, travel 3-5 times a year
