Learn about us at ourwebsite. What is this career opportunity? This position serves in the Lottery’s Operations/Accounting department. It is the focal point of the Accounting department’s operations. It is responsible for projects and requests from the department Finance Director and the Lottery Director. They take calls from Retailers and aid in financial questions and problems they have. Even though it is not a supervisory position, he/she reviews the work from the other to Accounting Technicians, trains Accounting Technicians, and helps resolve issues they may have. He/she works with other departments within the Lottery and DOA personnel to help resolve problems and compiles information for them. This position is also the back-up for the other Accounting Technicians at any given time. They are cross-trained to takeover when there is an absence. So other tasks they are to perform include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, travel vouchers, on-line and scratch monthly journals and reconciliations related to those journals. This position would, in certain circumstances, also be in a customer service position at the front desk to assist with walk-in winners. This position prepares, reviews, and monitors SABHRS financial reports and information for accuracy. Knowledge in SABHRS, Excel, and Word is highly preferred as these are in constant use in this position. Minimum Education and Experience: * Two-year degree in an accounting related field; AND * Relevant professional experience in an accounting role; OR * Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis Competencies: * Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); * Ability to plan, organize, gather information and conduct research; * Ability to analyze and interpret accounting records, reconcile and prepare financial statements from records; * Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively; * Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including using spreadsheet, word processing, database, email, internet and other computer programs.
