State of Montana Accounting Technician in Helena, Montana

Department Overview: The Montana Department of Commerce works with statewide and local partners, private industry and small businesses to enhance and sustain economic prosperity in Montana. Job Overview: This position is responsible for all accounts payable for the agency. This includes payments to outside vendors and other State agencies, as well as reimbursement of employee travel expenses. This position also provides financial services for the department in the areas of accounts receivable, contract management, records management, and cash handling, to ensure all accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. Education & Experience Associate Degree 2 years of job related experience. Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures; general accounting principles and practices. Preferred knowledge: accounts payable, deposits, State Accounting, Budgeting, Human Resource System (SABHRS); state government operations; contract requirements; State of Montana Purchasing Regulations; State of Montana Travel Regulations. Other combinations of experience and education will be considered on a 1-1 basis (1 year of education is equal to 1 year of experience & 1 year of experience is equal to 1 year of education for evaluation purposes) Total combined years must add up to the total of education plus experience listed as minimum qualifications for the application to be considered.
