Duties and Responsibilities
Actuarial
Serve as an actuary and carry out related project work across multiple public health care projects, including Medicaid programs
Serve as a subject matter expert in health care finance, actuarial methods and standards
Support the design and implementation of rate structures and methodologies, and ensure consistency with federal regulations and actuarial standards
Support alternative payment model design and implementation
Conduct actuarial cost and other financial analyses
Interpret and synthesize quantitative findings to facilitate decision making
Work collaboratively across teams and project streams
Identify project risks and opportunities, and develop sustainable solutions to address these
Communicate complex methods and principles in a straightforward and understandable way
Consulting
Conducts project management activities including project planning and status reporting
Facilitates client discussions relating to healthcare financing
Manages daily project functions and client interaction
Serves as project lead and primary client contact for one or more projects relating to healthcare finance
Reviews business operations for service and efficiency improvements
Evaluates programs and makes recommendations for improvements
Analyzes and interprets federal and state law and regulation
Assesses best practices and provide technical assistance to clients
Manages small projects, staff and tasks with limited supervision while meeting and exceeding performance expectations
Delegates tasks and responsibilities to team members
Prepares other written reports and materials for clients
Business Development
Supports strategic planning relating to identifying and pursuing actuarial opportunities
Identifies and reviews Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
Supports direct business development activities including meeting with potential clients and preparing materials for business development meetings
Leads proposal writing teams, including writing sections, coordinating efforts, and preparing proposal submissions
General
Critical thinking and creative problem solving
Work closely with government agencies
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to successfully identify new business opportunities and up-sell to existing customers
Required Skills
Knowledge of and experience with all aspects of the healthcare marketplace including plan design, pricing, reserving, benchmarking, financial management/analysis including experience projections, and administration
Medicaid actuarial experience (any state program, health insurer or Federal agency) or actuarial consulting experience; experience with Medicaid managed care capitation rate development and/or fee-for-service rate development, and Medicaid waivers is a plus
Excellent critical thinking, quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to prioritize and work across multiple projects/engagements
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Products, specifically Excel
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Experience and ability to effectively evaluate client needs and providing client service
Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree
Experience
5+ years of actuarial experience with particular emphasis on healthcare
Certification
ASA or FSA required
MAAA preferred
Working Conditions

As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $120,000-$139,000.
Compensation:
Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role below.
