Responsibilities of this position include: 1) Reviews and processes vital record requests for the issuance of certified and non-certified copies of vital records; 2) Approves and issues birth and death certificates; and 3) Responds to general vital record inquires. This position generally works in a typical office environment with extensive keyboarding requirements. There will be periods of time spent working in a vault. Key Responsibilities Include: * *Issuance of Birth, Death, and Fetal Death Certificates • Reviews and processes applications following set rules and regulations ensuring all information is completed. Follows up with applicants as needed either verbally or in writing. • Approves and issues birth/death certificates. • Other Duties as Assigned Administrative Responsibilities • Processes fees collected from issuance of certificates. • Responds to inquiries concerning how to acquire a vital record. • Maintains accurate and up-to-date files of correspondence Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Behaviors): * *Required for the first day of work: • Ability to provide effective and professional customer service. • Requires the skill in verifying the accuracy of data. • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, maintaining them over time. • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information. • Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including using spreadsheet, word processing, database, email, internet and other computer programs. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): • High school diploma or equivalent • 1 year of job-related work experience in an office or clerical environment. • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case by case basis.
