Associate Corporate Counsel

Job Description:

Job Description: SRI International is seeking a talented and highly motivated Associate Corporate Counsel to join the SRI Legal Department. This position is a generalist role supporting our business initiatives globally and could include a wide range of projects and matters such as those related to employment, export control, immigration, regulatory compliance, and privacy. You must have flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs. In addition, you must have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, small but growing environment and work proactively with various teams across the SRI organization, including the business, technical, and corporate teams. The position will report to SRI’s Assistant General Counsel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Associate General Counsel to provide legal advice and risk assessment across a broad range of legal matters and corporate initiatives.

  • Assist with SRI’s implementation of corporate compliance-related initiatives, including: conducting legal research on compliance and regulatory issues; and managing implementation by business units of required compliance initiatives.

  • Assist with developing, implementing, and improving processes and systems to increase efficiency of specific functions within the Legal Department.

  • Support other areas as necessary.

  • J.D., plus up to three years of relevant experience as an in-house counsel

  • Member in good standing of the State Bar, or qualified for admission as registered in-house counsel.

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency Required

  • Excellent business judgment, interpersonal skills, and sound negotiation skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to provide clear and concise legal advice.

  • Demonstrated self-starter with strong work ethic.

  • Ability to handle ambiguity, prioritize, and manage multiple cross-functional projects to completion with little direction, and quickly shift from one situation or task to another.

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a sense of humor.

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency Required.
