State of Montana Associate State Refugee Coordinator in Helena, Montana

U.S. policy allows refugees of special humanitarian concern entrance into our country, reflecting our core values and tradition of being a haven for the oppressed. The State of Montana has participated in refugee resettlement since the late 1970's. Refugees and other eligible populations (asylees, certified victims of trafficking, Special Immigrant Visa holders, Cuban/Haitian Entrants, and other populations eligible for ORR-funded benefits and services) arrive in Montana from many areas of the world, and other states. This position is mainly responsible for monitoring all refugee contracts, completing required federal reports and to provide back-up to the State Refugee Coordinator. During monitoring, the incumbent must ensure all services are provided in a culturally and linguistically appropriate and timely manner, while adhering to strict federal regulations and guidelines from the Office of Refugee Resettlement, Department of State, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Associate State Refugee Coordinator will also work to implement, coordinate, and manage various programs in resettlement communities for Montana. Additional program management responsibilities include managing federal grants, including all associated reporting; managing multiple contracts; coordinating stakeholder group consultations and providing technical support to stakeholders, contractors, resettlement agency staff, local office of public assistance and others as needed. * * Why Join DPHHS * * Our mission at DPHHS is serving Montanans in their communities to improve health, safety, well-being, and empower independence. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity * * * Knowledge and experience conducting contract monitoring. * Knowledge and experience in writing corrective action plans, including necessary follow-up. * General knowledge of federal and state laws related to grants and contracts. * Ability to research and apply state and federal rules, regulations, and guidance's. * Ability to facilitate stakeholder meetings. * Ability to prepare program reports, presentations, and other communication. * Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, human services, social work, health education or a related field. o Two years of job-related program management experience including contract monitoring. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. o Grant management experience preferred. o Understanding of public assistance eligibility preferred. o Basic knowledge of refugee resettlement program principles and practices preferred. o Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered. * * How to Apply To be considered for a DPHHS position, submit the following required documents with your application on the State of Montana Careers website.
