State of Montana Civil Rights Coordinator & EEO Officer in Helena, Montana

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Office of Human Resources. This position serves as the department expert concerning Civil Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and Non-Discrimination issues in the workplace. This includes advising on Civil Rights, EEO, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Non-Discrimination issues affecting department clients seeking services, as well as DPHHS employees. This position may assist with employee relations, may help facilitate and mediate conflicts and recommends appropriate course of action. The position performs work in core area of human resources expertise and advises, troubleshoots, assists, and guides management, supervisors, and other employees in a core human resources area of expertise and participate in projects or programs requiring specialized human resources expertise. The position research, interprets, and applies new developments and best practices to specialized work. The position develops, delivers, and conducts training in human resources area of expertise. The position reviews, revises, or recommends changes to human resources policies and procedures related to core area of expertise; compiles data and information and prepares reports regarding human resources area of expertise. The position monitors and evaluate compliance with applicable laws, rules, policies, and procedures in human resources area of expertise. The position Investigates complaints, appeals, or grievances related to an area of human resources expertise and make determinations. The position provides consulting or advising work in area of expertise to other agencies, organizations, or the public and writes, interprets, and administers human resources policies, guides, and job aids in area of expertise that impact other agencies, organizations, or the public. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity * * * * · Extensive knowledge of the theories and practices of human resources including but not limited to promoting and working with diversity, progressive discipline, labor relations, employee relations, sexual harassment, equal employment opportunity, etc. · Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations involved in prohibiting discrimination and employment law, such as but not limited to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Workers Compensation, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Wrongful Discharge from Employment, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Civil Rights Acts, Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Montana Human Rights Law, etc. · Ability to interpret and analyze state and federal laws and apply those laws to cases. · Ability to research, investigate, and analyze findings. · Skill in presenting training and developing training materials. · Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build consensus. · Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, including skill in writing technical documents. · Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field. o Three years of specialized human resources experience. o Other combinations of education and experience may be substituted. * * How to Apply To be considered for a DPHHS position, submit the following required documents with your application on the State of Montana Careers website.
