Oracle Consulting Member of Technical Staff in Helena, Montana

Job Description

As a Senior Principal Engineer for Open Platform Engineering, you will join a platform team that is responsible for advancing the open API products based on industry definitions by HL7® (Health Level 7 International). The APIs are built utilizing standards like Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) and Substitutable Medical Applications Reusable Technology (SMART®) standards which enable system integrations with the Oracle Cerner Millennium® database or web-based applications to be integrated with and launched from within Oracle Cerner’s electronic medical record applications. These capabilities are deployed across multiple cloud regions today and must support commercial and regulatory requirements unique to each region.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical and communication skills and the ability to handle driving design and projects of increased complexity across the platform. They are expected to stay up to speed on the latest changes in the industry and evaluating if and how those changes can be applied to our products. There are many responsibilities, including but not limited to implementing proof of concept designs with ambiguous requirements, driving design discussions with internal and external stakeholders, and providing design oversight and technical project leadership to other engineers on the team. This work will require connecting with our engineering, product and architecture groups in a highly collaborative team that stretches across 3 development regions globally.

Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience At least 7 years of software engineering work experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing excellent code in one or more preferred programming languages, but not limited to: Java, C#, C++, Ruby.

  • Proven track record of web services work designing and implementing RESTful APIs that scale efficiently and securely.

  • A solid grasp of fundamental system design principles and best practices in distributed systems architecture.

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps principles and tools, encompassing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure automation, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • A strong aspiration to make a meaningful impact and thrive in collaborative and dynamic environments.

  • The ability to effectively communicate technical concepts verbally and through design considerations.

  • Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing or building Ruby on Rails web services.

  • Experience with cloud-based platforms.

  • Experience with observability tools like Splunk and New Relic.

  • Experience with API management products or API gateways.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Health Information Technology.

  • Experience with any HL7® interfaces, specifically (FHIR®).

  • Experience collaborating with team members across multiple time zones.

Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
