Data Scientist II
Zurich North America is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data & Analytics Team. This position can based out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois and we are also open to considering remote work.
Join a team that uses data and analytics to solve business challenges for Zurich North America and our customers. Data and Analytics at Zurich encompasses data science, analytics, dashboards and data visualizations as well as data as a business asset.
In this role you will work in a team to:
Lead a project team to collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and structure an advanced analytical solution to solve it
Lead a project team to scan a broad spectrum of internal/external, structured/unstructured data sources to define the optimal data set for testing the hypotheses; partners across the organization to connect these data sources to build the data set.
Lead a project team to prepare internal/external, structured/unstructured data sets to build/rebuild/refresh predictive models.
Lead a project team to design, develop and validate models (descriptive, predictive, optimization/simulation and others) built using a variety of modeling techniques.
Lead a project team to work with stakeholders to develop a strategy on how to use the model to generate the desired impact
Lead a project team to work closely with stakeholders after deployment to ensure that impact is achieved.
Monitor model accuracy, and working with stakeholders to ensure the model is used appropriately and generates the desired impact
Work with cross-functional teams to put models into production, and provide support on IT implementation and system integration of models.
Develop best practices and improvements to analytic techniques to solve business challenges.
Establish, maintain and grow collaborative relationships across the organization
High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7 or more years of experience in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics and experience transforming data in the business analysis areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics and 5 or more years of experience transforming data in the business analysis areaOR
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics and 5 or more years of experience transforming data in the business analysis areaOR
Masters Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics and 3 or more years of experience transforming data in the business analysis areaOR
PhD in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics and 0 or more years of experience transforming data in the business analysis area
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to develop actionable solutions to business challenges
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience applying data transformation techniques such as exact and probabilistic matching methods; fuzzy matching, text mining, and data reduction
Experience with programming and database mining tools
Advanced knowledge of statistical and predictive modeling techniques such as machine learning, decision trees, probability networks, association rules, clustering, regression, GLMs, and neural networks and their application to business decision
