One of Bayer’s innovative precision oncology treatments is Vitrakvi (larotrectinib), a first-in-class oral TRK inhibitor exclusively designed to treat tumors that have an NTRK gene fusion. Vitrakvi has demonstrated high response rates and durable responses in adults and children with TRK fusion cancer. TRK fusion cancer occurs in various tumors including lung, thyroid, GI cancers, sarcoma, CNS cancers and salivary gland cancers.


The primary responsibilities of this role, Director National Diagnostic Account, are to:

  • Lead the Diagnostic Account Managers within Precision Medicine account teams to accelerate the adoption and implementation of molecular testing and precision medicine within accounts;

  • Communicate a compelling vision for the integration of precision medicine into care pathways to drive a new standard of care, leveraging strong clinical and technical knowledge to breed confidence and trust;

  • Lead the development of tactics to enhance in-house testing capabilities through addition of NTRK enabled testing methods and equip Diagnostic Account Managers to apply them within their accounts;

  • Drive and optimize NTRK-enabled testing through development of tumor specific testing pathway protocols and EMR integration, leveraging either outsourced or in-house capabilities;

  • Ensure the provision of data analytics and tracking tools to monitor effectively and direct customer diagnostic activities and provide relevant insights to Precision Medicine account teams to support them to enhance the customer experience, value and patient health outcomes;

  • Lead the development of operational strategies to facilitate adoption and implementation of precision medicine and testing in target accounts to maximize the value created for Bayer and for the customer;

  • Develop and deliver an ambitious business plan for diagnostic/genomic testing aligned with target account priorities and the wider oncology business strategy;

  • Support Diagnostic Account Managers to work with target accounts to provide advice and support to incorporate testing into care pathways so that they maximize financial and clinical value;

  • Develop and oversee implementation of plans and tactics for testing in key accounts, including operating model choices (In-house vs send out), support, training on implementation and accurate interpretation of testing outcomes, development of pathways, enabling broader molecular testing and removing barriers (e.g. systems integration with EMR, access and usage of VITRAKVI at different systems across the workflow;

  • Contribute to the identification of partnership laboratories as well as the negotiation and contracting with them in order to identify the right patients and to maximize current and future business value;

  • Partner with target healthcare systems to foster innovation in care through the adoption of testing and precision medicine;

  • Build strategic, long-term partnership with business and clinical leaders within selected accounts (in consultation with Precision Medicine account teams), focusing on value-based solutions to clinical, organizational and financial needs;

  • Assist in creating value for the accounts by building business cases and collaboration opportunities with Bayer on the Precision Medicine Account Teams;

  • Increase awareness of NTRK fusions, precision medicine, test methodologies and actionable biomarker landscape through educating stakeholders and KOL development;

  • Educate and excite customers about the value of and possibilities for precision medicine and testing, including enhanced care standards, opportunities for involvement in research and the potential benefits for patients, customers and the business of oncology;

  • Assist PMAT in the development of strategies, tactics and tools to equip and educate HCPs to identify right patients timely for whom precision medicine – particularly NTRK testing – would be beneficial;

  • Build the foundation for the expansion of broader molecular diagnostics into other care pathways to enhance the ability of the organization to drive testing, find more patients and to meet their needs;

  • Collaborate with account clinical leadership to create plan for generating patient awareness;

  • Provide expertise-driven leadership of the Diagnostic Account Managers to support their contribution to the Precision Medicine Account Team in order to accelerate adoption, maximize market access and drive revenue growth for VITRAKVI;

  • Support, enable and encourage Diagnostic Account Managers to align and engage the account team (incorporating medical, diagnostics and nurse education) around shared goals and prioritized account projects and initiatives;

  • Coach and develop the Diagnostic Account Managers to support their effectiveness and achieve the potential;

  • Foster an environment of collaboration and coordination as part of the account management approach while developing critical diagnostic management capabilities to enhance the effectiveness of Diagnostic Account Managers;

  • Identify, prioritize and highlight business opportunities within accounts and across accounts by analyzing and synthesizing information from multiple sources to;

  • Contribute subject matter expertise to the development of the Precision Medicine Account strategy and align with the Oncology Regional Account Directors on business plans and priorities.


Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree;

  • At least 5 years people leadership experience in managing diagnostics field-based teams;

  • At least 10 years of successful sales, account management or marketing experience in oncology/hematology, biotech, life science or diagnostic sales;

  • High levels of business acumen and business management experience to set and deliver a diagnostic business plan aligned with key account objectives;

  • High levels of proficiency in identified tumor types, disease state, product and business knowledge to support the needs of accounts and the field team;

  • Knowledge of molecular diagnostic workflows and tumor specific biomarker testing journeys;

  • Knowledge of, access to, and the ability to influence all key stakeholders in targeted accounts (Pathologist, Oncologists, Executive Leadership, Lab personnel, etc.);

  • Demonstrated successful sales or account management experience in oncology/hematology, biotech, life science or diagnostic sales;

  • Well-developed professional and strategic selling skills with a proven ability to grow key accounts by building and leveraging networks inside and outside of key institutions;

  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work independently and as a cross-functional team member of VITRAKVI Oncology field team;

  • Must possess strong analytical, negotiation and customer relations skills;

  • This is field based role and will require 50% U.S. travel, primarily within assigned region but also nationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree;

  • Strong technical background in molecular biology, genomics, next generation sequencing, Immunohistochemistry or immunology.


Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $209k/year (or between $167k/yr to $251/yr). Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
