About the Role:
Windstream’s Inside Plant Power Engineers are responsible for the capacity, modernization, and maintenance of large environmental and power components including but not limited to AC Entrance, DC Plant, Rectifiers, Battery Plants, HVAC, Generators, etc within Windstream network switching centers. The ISP Power Engineer also supports the deployment of network equipment within Windstream switching centers by designing and implementation of supporting AC/DC power circuits, cable infrastructure, fiber guide, and network relay racks.
What You’ll Do:
Engineer, design, and manage the implementation of AC/DC power circuits required to support the deployment of network gear within Windstream switching centers.
Engineer, design, and manage the implementation of relay racks, superstructure, and fiber guide required in maintaining an efficient and manageable network space.
Assist in the planning, analysis, design and engineering of ISP environmentals and power components that provide cooling and power at Windstream switching centers.
Organize complex activities for the development, construction, implementation, and maintenance of Inside plant engineering projects.
Utilize sound engineering practices and company objectives to resolve issues in a creative and effective way.
Skillfully communicate to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships and drive projects to completion
Engineer/Design projects to ensure cost-effective utilization of materials and labor.
Perform administrative work relating to projects and assignments.
Assess situations, collaborate and identify key issues, and solve complex problems.
90% of work in the office and 10% in the field.
Do you Have?
Electrical or Mechanical Engineering college degree
Educational knowledge or work experience in AC/DC power theory and distribution
Strong and effective technical communication skills, both verbally and written.
Project Management Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word and Outlook
Ability to be a self-starter, able to work with little guidance
Ability to work in a self-directed work group, work easily with others and be a team player
Ability to analyze problems and priorities and make decisions
A college degree in Engineering or similar discipline and/or 2 years technical experience
Even Better :
Previous telecommunication engineering experience or college/technical courses in telecom
Previous intern or Co-op in similar field or relatable expereince
Project Management experience
CAD/E, Microstation, AutoCad or other similar design programs
Minimum Qualifications
An Engineering Degree (Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good organization and documentation skills
