KLJ Engineering Intern- Civil in Helena, Montana
This position is scheduled to start December 2021 or May 2022.
As an Engineer Intern you will work closely with task managers and design leads to gain practical on-the-job experience and understanding of KLJ engineering and design standards. Interns gain fundamental engineering basics that align with ensuring KLJ continues to provide exceptional service to our clients. Position will experience design, quality calculations, plan sheet development, engineering reports, construction administration and other project deliverables.
Apply knowledge of fundamental civil engineering principles and standards to individual project tasks
Learn and utilize design software to apply engineering standards of design
Construction observation/inspection and administration
Ensure compliance with KLJ quality standards
Utilize effective written and oral communication
Assist with elements of project design including calculation of quantities for cost estimating and bidding purposes
Increase design competency in software(s) associated with typical project requirements
Become familiar with details of putting together a set of plans
Effectively convey engineering analysis and results in written reports and documentation
Perform construction administration duties such as documenting activities, providing general oversight, and interacting with contractors, sub-contractors, residents and others.
May assist with preparation for public/client meetings
A high school diploma studying a degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
Engineer-In-Training Certification or ability to obtain before becoming an Engineer in Training
Must possess basic MS Office skills including Word and Excel.
Must have a valid driver's license and able to operate motorized vehicles
Previous Internship Experience in related field

Job will be posted until filled. The salary for this position is expected to range between $17- $22/hour dependent upon qualifications.
