Tetra Tech Inc.is currently seeking two (2) full-time Junior to Mid-Level, Environmental Scientists, Engineers and Biologiststo support Wildfire Remediation Work in Northern California.

Selected candidates will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the field work conducted by water quality professionals, Biologists, and Archaeologists in addressing the environmental requirements of disaster debris removal and hazard tree program. You will conduct site assessments, multimedia sampling, air monitoring, and health and safety in a differing levels of PPE. You may be trained to take on managmenet level work while on site.
All work is done in teams of 2, reporting through incident command system.
This position is in the field 80% of the time in Northern California. Tetra Tech will provide travel, per diem, and housing accommodations when on travel, unless staff are local to the site. Full relocation will not be necessary.
When not in the field, work will occur in the Helena, MT office doing data management tasks and other project work as necessary.
Work will consist of working 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday, 10 – 12 hour days and will average 50 – 60 hours per week. Extensive travel is required and varies based on project requirements; includes weekend travel and work.
The ideal candidate will have / be:
3-8 years of experience in environmental consulting, sampling, remediation.
Experience in GIS, data base management, working with big data, and SQL Server Data Base Management is a plus.
Highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment.
Ability to manage a heavy workload and travel.
Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills
Proficient with MS Office applications required.
40 hour-HAZWOPER certificate (must be current or within 2 years of completion of initial class) OR complete 40 – hour HAZWOPER prior to first day of employment is required.
You will drive on a regular basis, must have a valid driver’s license.
Requires passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check and maintaining a safe driving record.
Heavy lifting of field sampling and other equipment is required.
Candidate must also meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work.
Must be able to work out in the field in ALL weather conditions, in all seasons, including hot and cold weather. This position is out in the field 80% of the time. (3 - 4 weeks in the field in Northern California, followed by 1 week in the office).
Must be able to travel and work weekends.
B.S. in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, biology or related degree required.
Current 40-hour HAZWOPER is required.
40-hour OSHA, ICS or related training a plus.
