Job Overview: This position manages the acquisition, warehousing, and distribution of USDA Foods to approximately 260 School Nutrition Program sponsors (school districts) statewide. This position requires knowledge in program management, federal regulations, procurement procedures, warehousing, and distribution of perishable food products. States receive USDA Foods to be distributed to sponsors for use in preparing school meals. USDA Foods has a dual mission of supporting domestic agriculture and providing nutritious foods to schools. Offerings include a wide variety of high-quality fruits, vegetables, dairy products, whole grains, lean meats, and other protein options. Does this sound like you? Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required to perform the job: * * · Knowledge of institutional food service management and production; operational and fiscal management; State and Federal regulations; public health and management; and research methodologies. · Knowledge of the operations, services, and activities of the assigned programs; the principles, procedures, methods, and treatments related to the assigned programs; and pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations related to the assigned programs. · Knowledge of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, program participants, state and Federal agency partners, and contracted vendors for warehousing, trucking, and food processing. · Skilled inanalyzing data from various sources used by the School Nutrition Program and research results from professional studies. · Skilled inestablishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. · Skilled in using a computer and typical business applications. · Skilled in written and verbal communication skills. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): · Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, or related degree. · 1 year experience in programs or related field. · Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted on a case-by-case basis.
