State of Montana Health Education Specialist (07723) in Helena, Montana

The Health Education Specialist develops and administers statewide and local public health programs in response to state needs and federal grant solicitations. Responsibilities include: 1) Manages the contract with the Montana Tobacco Quit Line provider, including budget development and management, data interpretation and dissemination, and quality improvement activities; 2) Develops educational materials and establishes program procedures to increase referrals to the Quit Line and decrease overall tobacco use; 3) Engages providers in the integration of tobacco treatment in behavioral health and health care settings; and, 4) Plans and coordinates conferences, trainings and presentations to provide education and outreach on tobacco cessation and program services. * * What We Can Offer You The State of Montana's comprehensive benefits package includes healthcare coverage, retirement plans, paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays, work/life balance, and eligibility to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. Additionally This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy. This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.50 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2023, and July 1, 2024. What You Can Offer Us * Knowledge of public health education including disease prevention and control. * Skill in researching and developing health training materials and program content. * Skill in evaluating health programs. * Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor’s degree in health science, health education, behavioral or social science, or a related degree. o Two years of job-related experience in health programming or health education. o Experience in and knowledge of health care systems preferred. o Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
