State of Montana Human Resource Specialist in Helena, Montana
The Montana Historical Society is currently recruiting for a full-time Human Resource Specialist.
Job Overview: The position is responsible for a wide range of HR and payroll administration processes (FMLA, recruitment, compensation, employee relations, etc.), general payroll/leave benefits administration, and accounting assistance.
Payroll Administration: Enters and reviews time, processes travel reimbursements, runs payroll reports in SABHRS. Calculates and enters miscellaneous adjustments such as differential pay, retroactive pay, longevity and leave accelerator adjustments, leave accrual adjustments, prior period adjustments to reported time, sick leave fund and direct grants adjustments, excess comp time and termination payouts, etc. Manages leave balances such as excess leave and FMLA. Researches and resolves leave balance discrepancies and responds to supervisor/employee questions regarding balance discrepancies.
Human Resources: Recruitment and selection, reviews applicant materials, helps candidates complete the onboarding process. Oversees employee record keeping. Provides general human resource guidance on policies and procedures.
Accounting: Assists with processing checks, completes deposits in SABHRS Financials, and files invoices.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, Personnel Management, or another related field and 2 years of personnel administration experience. SABHRS experience preferred. Accounting experience preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
