The Montana Department of Revenue administers approximately 40 state taxes, property appraisals, liquor laws, and unclaimed property for the State of Montana.

The Income Tax Specialist provides leadership and direction for division research, analysis, and program and policy development projects related to the administration of individual income tax, pass-through entities, and withholding tax. The incumbent is the primary point of contact with internal and external customers and provides technical assistance related to division program or project areas. The position reports to the income and withholding tax bureau chief.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
The above competencies are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, public administration, business administration, communication, statistics, economics, finance, or directly related field.
Five years of job-related work experience.
Work experience should include progressively responsible experience with federal and/or state income taxes, program planning, analysis, and policy development.
Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis. It is important that all previous work experience is listed.
