Our program allows students in colleges, trade schools, and other qualifying educational institutions a paid opportunity to work in the agency and explore careers while completing their education. Students will gain relevant experience in their area of interest, which may include receiving academic credit toward graduation. CSI Overview We are entrusted with protecting all Montanans by regulating two of the state’s largest industries—securities and insurance. Key Responsibilities; * Conducting research and analysis to support other teams. * Collaborating with team members to contribute to ongoing initiatives. * Participating in team meetings and discussions to gain insights into best practices. * Support day-to-date tasks and projects as needed. If selected for a legal internship, the responsibilities will consist of the following: * The position involves significant legal research and writing on insurance and security-related issues for use in criminal investigations and prosecutions as well as administrative enforcement actions under MAPA, in state district court proceedings, and briefing in the Montana Supreme Court. * If a student is eligible to practice under the Student Practice Rule, CSI seeks opportunities for the student handle in-person proceedings before MAPA hearing examiners and appearances in state district court proceedings. The student may also have the opportunity to author and sign briefs in district court, the Montana Supreme Court, and in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. * The position also requires significant interaction with CSI’s internal clients, including legal analysis and writing in connection published Advisory Memoranda and trade secret protection issues. Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements: * * For non-legal internships, you must currently be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field such as finance, accounting, or management; a mathematical science or statistical related degree; or a degree in political science. * For legal internships, you must currently be pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree. * Strong interest in your field with a desire to learn and grow. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Proactive and enthusiastic with a strong willingness to contribute. *Additional Information: * This internship is a 12-week program during the summer months. * This is a paid internship opportunity. * The selected candidate will have the flexibility to work approximately 15-40 hours per week. * Mentoring and professional development opportunities will be available to support your learning and growth. * Preference will be given to Junior and Senior level college students.
