The Internal Support Services (ISS) Unit is part of the Business and Financial Services Division (BFSD). ISS provides critical support to all DPHHS employees statewide. The ISS Unit provides mail services which includes USPS, UPS, Fed-Ex, and freight services and delivery to Helena based offices. ISS Courier services include delivery/retrieval of archived records and equipment statewide. ISS facilitates a surplus program which repurposes office furniture and equipment statewide, this program has an accompanying website managed by ISS. ISS manages the DPHHS vehicle fleet, this is composed of several monthly reporting tasks and maintaining a direct relationship to vehicle users and the State Motorpool. ISS manages the hard copy forms inventory for DPHHS which acts as a clearing house for the state. ISS is also a key player in office moves, often taking on the moves as a Unit but at minimum dealing with surplus equipment. Each day brings something new and the ISS Unit prides itself on being able to answer the call.
Some key responsibilities:
Enforces, supports and models all operational safety protocols and procedures.
Evaluates the status of surplus property to determine if it is cost effective to repair, salvage, recycle, and dispose of or surplus.
Utilizes assessment tools to ensure that ISS systems are meeting agency and customer needs.
Coordinates office move logistics and furniture assembly/disassembly within DPHHS.
Maintains and keeps current data base of surplus inventory and calculates overall department savings when items are repurposed instead of purchasing new.
Maintains a database of work performed, for whom, time spent, cost benefit analysis
Pickups and/or transports furniture or equipment to surplus and/or other locations statewide.
Coordinates and delivers E-Waste.
Maintains and keeps current Surplus DPHHS website.
Provides organization and maintenance of the two Department trading posts and delivers special orders to appropriate personnel as requested.
Assists the Internal Support Manager with fleet management by compiling and distributing vehicle usage reports, issuing fuel cards and activating PIN numbers for users.
Serves as back-up to the mail room staff as needed. Picks up, sorts and delivers mail; handles treasury deposits and records deliveries.
Performs a variety of other professional, administrative and technical assistance tasks including coordinating special projects and events, assisting other DPHHS work units on a statewide basis.
Physical and Environmental Demands:Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including pallet jacks, hand truck and various hand tools. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle and a 3-ton manual transmission cargo truck. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds for force constantly to move object. Must be able to continually walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, reach and lift and carry heavy items. This position requires frequent statewide travel including overnight stays and daily travel within town to pick up or deliver surplus items and/or pick up storage records as requested. Routine in-town and scheduled out of town travel required. Must possess a valid Montana driver’s license, provide verification of a safe driving record, and be able to drive in all types of weather conditions.

Ability to drive manual transmission 3-ton cargo truck and smaller vehicles.
Required Minimum Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate’s and above preferred.
Two year’s job-related experience with equipment salvage and maintenance, inventory, and/or shipping and receiving.
Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
