St. Peters Health LPN - Medical Floor, Nights 0.9 FTE in Helena, Montana

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): The LPN will provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with registered nurse supervision.

The LPN will perform standardized, focused nursing assessments of patients by: collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner. Data collection includes: observation of the patient condition, change in condition and signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status.

The LPN will participate in the development of the strategy of care in collaboration with other health care members by providing data, identifying priorities, setting realistic and measurable goals, identifying measures to maintain comfort, support human functions and responses, and maintain an environment conducive to wellbeing. Provide health teaching to patients.

The LPN will participate in the implementation of the strategy of care by providing nursing care for patients under the general supervision of a registered nurse. Executes a nursing care plan formulated by the registered nurse.

The LPN will provide an environment conducive to safety and health and by documenting, communicating nursing interventions and patient responses to care with other members of the healthcare team via electronic or verbal communications based on patient evaluations.

The LPN will contribute to the modification of the strategy of care and work effectively with patients and physicians to assure quality healthcare and excellent customer service. Keep the registered nurse informed of acute changes in patient status.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years-acute care experience preferred or a new graduate from a technical school of nursing.

EDUCATION: A graduate from a technical school of nursing. Maintains knowledge, skills, and abilities through ongoing education. Completes all mandatory review/education as required and assigned.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana State Board of Nursing licensure as an LPN. BLS certification required. Successful completion of IV certification of a board approved or pre-licensure nursing education program IV therapy course within 6 months of hire. Required to obtain RN license within 5 years of hire.

Aptitudes: Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
