AMERICAN CHEMET CORP Maintenance Technician in HELENA, Montana

SUMMARY Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality. Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance. Test equipment to check operation. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime. Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to Supervisor and takes appropriate action. Examines defects and analyzes spoilage causes and, where possible, takes corrective action. Notifies maintenance department or Supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed. Instructs and directs assigned maintenance trainees. Requirements ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. May be required to perform machinist work. May need to oil and grease equipment. May be required to perform all kinds of welding, brazing, and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment. Mobile Equipment repair and service. SAFETY POLICIES AND PRACTICES The employee performing this job must be knowledgeable of and follow the company's safety policies and procedures. Attention and care are required to prevent injury to others when performing maintenance work. Accident hazard can involve severe cuts and bruises. Considerable glare emits from work, requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Satisfactory completion of formal training program or minimum of two years? work experience. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Climb up and down ladders and stairs. Use hands, fingers, arms, legs, and feet to operate a forklift. Reach with hands and arms to package product and operate equipment. May be frequently required to climb on and off a forklift. Required to talk and hear on the phone to receive and convey instructions. May frequently lift and/or move 55 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 80 pounds. Required to clean in their work areas by sweeping, vacuuming, and shoveling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee; Can be regularly exposed to airborne particles of copper dust and outside weather conditions. All employees must be able to perform their job functions while wearing PPE which will be hard hats, safety eyewear, and protective footwear at a minimum and may also include respiratory protection, hearing protection, hand protection, coveralls, chemical resistant clothing, and leather or aluminized jackets.
