Our Energy, Sustainability & Infrastructure (ES&I) team provides political, strategic and management consultancy to institutions and companies across the energy value chain that aim to support and finance the energy transition. Responsibilities

Guidehouse’s Decarbonization Solutions team works to deliver the next generation of solutions to support our clients in delivering on a decarbonized energy future. We support utilities and stakeholders across the energy sector as they envision and prepare for this future by combining our market knowledge, objective modelling capabilities, and deep technical skills with strategic perspectives on decarbonization planning.

As a member of the team , you will help to identify and build new, transformational offerings for our clients, with a particular focus on hydrogen, synthetic fuels, and biofuels (low carbon fuels). Our team is actively working with clients to understand how low carbon fuels impact their core business offering and what actions they need to take to best position themselves.

You will work with energy providers across Europe, North America, and the Middle East, developing solutions that support clients through the energy transition. Assignments may include developing hydrogen specific implementation roadmaps, executing stakeholder engagement strategies, developing policy and regulatory mechanisms, and delivering projects to drive real-world impact across the hydrogen value chain.

In this role you will learn, be challenged, and develop skills at a fast pace. In addition to hands-on experience, formal training programs will teach you the diverse skills you need to succeed.

Position Overview:

  • This position involves partnering with clients through development and expansion of their low carbon fuel business. This can involve strategic planning and vision setting, implementation roadmap creation, business case development, consortium and stakeholder relationship building, change management, technical advisory, regulatory and policy mechanism development, and other transformational activities.

  • This is a highly challenging position that draws heavily upon problem solving, creative, and interpersonal skills.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Working with clients through workshops, 1-on-1 conversations, and interviews to understand their key low carbon fuel related challenges, and suggested approaches for solving the challenges; providing hydrogen solution expertise for business development efforts.

  • Working directly with our wider solution steam to develop new tools that support our clients as they progress through the integration of low carbon fuels in their energy transition.

  • Leading project teams focused on the integration of low carbon fuels in the energy transition, including directing junior team members to support the development of analytics to meet client needs.

  • Preparing and presenting analysis, reports, and other documents for internal and/or external client use.

  • Staying abreast of technology developments, demonstration projects, and pilot studies of emerging low carbon fuel related technologies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum years of experience: 7+ years

  • Minimum degree required: Bachelors

  • Energy industry experience, with an understanding of the challenges existing players are facing as part of the energy transition, particularly focusing on trends around decarbonization.

  • Knowledge of energy sector decarbonization pathways and impacts on existing and new market participants.

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with clients to understand their needs.

  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of informationand develop compelling solutions.

  • Able to draw together expertise fromacross the business to develop novel solutions that support client projects and proposals.

  • Pragmatic approach to problem-solving which always considers the client’s challenges and environment.

    Desired:

  • Knowledge on hydrogen, synthetic fuels, biofuels technologies (across the value chain), economics, policy and regulatory aspects, role in the broader energy transition (applications).

  • Knowledge on the role hydrogen could play across transport, industry, heating,and power generation

Additional Requirements

  • The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.

  • This role will be subject to a salary range of $108,000 to $127,000 may vary depending on degree, relevant work experience and location.
