Job Description

The Market and Competitive Intelligence Principal is responsible for developing a professional capability to support the day to day intelligence needs of our businesses. This person will leverage paid and public sources of data in combination with deep business and industry expertise to provide analysis, insights, perspectives and recommendations to support business leaders in strategic, operational and tactical decision making. This person will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Account Management and Product Development as the go-to, subject matter expert on current industry, market, product and competitor activity.


Accountable for maintaining overview of key markets served including size, participants, share, segmentation, growth rate, key trends, etc.

Accountable for maintaining key competitor information including markets and geographies served, product portfolio offered, relevant current events, positioning, etc.

Use research and analysis to develop factual, actionable insights and recommendations

Develop and deliver competitive intelligence presentations to business sales, marketing, product and business leadership as requested

Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships

Facilitate sharing of knowledge and insights across the organization

Manage vendor relationships related to data and budget for annual subscriptions

Grow Competitive Intelligence team to meet unmet, internal customer needs, as identified

Build and maintain collaborative external relationships with professional organizations and information resources

Support business strategy development and annual business strategic planning process

Support product innovation and business development functions (as required)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, or related field. Graduate degree a plus.

8+ years of experience in healthcare or related field focused on market intelligence and analytics.

Additional Qualifications

Strong healthcare industry knowledge, with a comprehensive understanding of Pharmacy Benefit Management

Deep understanding of key pharmacy issues and market trends

Excellent research and analytical skills with an ability to rapidly synthesize data into insights

Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills

Passion for sharing knowledge and insights with others, to drive measurable impacts

Ability to deliver high quality analysis with occasionally tight turnaround times

A demonstrated track record of working effectively in a collaborative organization

Advanced ability to prioritize and manage time on potentially multiple projects at once

Effective participation in meetings with business leadership and customers.

Excellent PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business or related field

  • Prime/Magellan experience a plus

  • Experience with large sets of claims data

  • Experience conducting pharmaceutical, medical, and/or financial analyses

Minimum Physical Job Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • Constantly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear

  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch

  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to Sr Principal or Sr Director in the Strategy department.

Potential pay for this position ranges from $94,700.00 - $151,300.00 based on experience and skills. Pay range may vary by 8% depending on applicant location.
