Ford Motor Company Mobile Service Technical Specialist in Helena, Montana
Grade level of posted position: SG6 / SG7 / SG8
The ideal candidate will possess technical acumen, vehicle service experience, and the ability to deliver results for customers, Dealers, and management of all levels. Mobile Service provides an option for dealerships to deliver vehicle service which is convenient for customers. Specialty equipped vehicles carry tools and equipment to a customer's home, place of business, job site, or other convenient locations to complete repairs, maintenance, recalls quickly and conveniently. The Mobile Service Technical Specialist works to develop vehicles and programs which meet the needs of Dealers as they provide Mobile Service to retail and fleet customers.
As a technical lead, the ideal candidate will be able to provide technical expertise and guidance to help support Mobile Service. The candidate will be a self-starter; self-motivator; who is able to work collaboratively with teams, while overseeing non-production supplier/agency staff.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure Mobile Service Upfitters are providing high quality vehicle upfits by monitoring and addressing quality concerns and performing regular quality inspections
Assist with training Mobile Service trainers (MSX team) to develop their technical acumen for Mobile Service van launches
Work with engineers to develop vehicle layouts and equipment requirements
Work with engineers and ASO to ensure product safety and ASO compliance
Perform reviews of vehicle configurations (Ford/Lincoln/Rush Trucks) with program scheduler, and review CONCEPS and DORA for vehicle content accuracy
Review tools for all new upfit builds, configure tool kits for sale to Mobile Service Dealers, and review all proposed replacement tools for existing tools that are no longer available
Work with vendors and upfitters when equipment failures occur to quickly address and resolve concerns
Proactively seek out new equipment vendors, identifying new and potentially improved products
Visit vendors to review current and potential new equipment
Provide Dealers with technical assistance and parts procurement for out of warranty repairs, and assist Dealers with expediting repairs to get their Mobile Service unit back on the road
Monitor the warranty tracker for repetitive repairs and work to resolve concerns in future vehicle upfits
Investigate cause-of-failure to determine if repairs should be warranted by Ford Motor Company or the Upfitter
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
1 + years of automotive experience
Must be able to travel (some overnights required)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive Management, or equivalent
Ford specific Automotive Repair Technical Training
Technical competency
Dealership contact experience
Automotive dealership or independent “hands-on” vehicle repair experience with Ford and/or Lincoln Brand
Ability to independently and proactively plan, organize, prioritize and problem-solve
