State of Montana Network Administrator - Distance Learning in Helena, Montana
Serve as the Network Administrator for the National Guard Distance Learning and production information technology systems.
Responsibilities include: Installing, configuring, and supporting the MT Army National Guard Distance Learning (DL) and Production information technology systems. This includes the specific local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems relative to the DL Program. Ensures and monitors network availability. Performs necessary maintenance and upgrades to support network availability. May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. This position will administer network security measures.
May be required to be on-call outside of normal business hours to resolve system failures or other problems that occur during MT National Guard training events / weekend drill periods.
Knowledge and abilities: Requires broad knowledge and experience related to computer systems and technologies, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to think logically. Requires the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and balance efforts across multiple projects is critical. Ability to work both independently and work in teams on large projects as necessary. Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with computer personnel, users, and other staff who may have no technical background. Continuous study is necessary to maintain skills.
This position also requires professionalism adequate to effectively act as a technical advisor to Senior National Guard Staff members. Must have demonstrated ability to work and engage in diverse working environments within and outside the Department.

Education & experience:Bachelors degree in a field such as computer science, information science, applied mathematics, or business, AND four (4) years demonstrated experience in network administration, server management, virtual production, video and sound practical application, certification and in which two of the four years experience includes application management. Other combinations of equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Conditions of employment: Must have a valid drivers license, good driving record and pass a fingerprint based background check.
