Job Details

Salesforce is searching for a Senior/Lead network engineer to join Salesforce as Product Owner of the Network Trust Operations (NTO) team —the team responsible for maintaining software/firmware security compliance for network equipment deployed across Salesforce first-party data centers.

As the Product Owner of NTO, you'll take on the responsibility to ensure that software/firmware deployed across Salesforce first-party data centers is patched to the most secure version available to maintain security compliance. You will also be leading the team to create and modify procedures that will be utilized to perform the software/firmware upgrade tasks, while maintaining the highest possible network uptime.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the team as a technical leader on platforms shared by other technical and people leaders.

  • Create project plans and delivery timelines for multiple projects held within the team charter.

  • Being hands-on with performing high-level troubleshooting and analysis to determine the root cause when network outages occur during software/firmware upgrades.

  • Delegating projects/tasks to members of the team, while driving results in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with software development teams to help develop power-tools and automation frameworks to perform repeatable tasks.

  • Isolate hardware and software problems on network devices and work with vendors to resolve issues as necessary.

  • Ensure processes documentation is up to date with the focus on safety and availability of network services.

  • Perform proactive network audits to help strategize software/firmware rollouts across the entire fleet.

  • Work collaboratively with engineering teams to identify ways in which we can proactively improve the stability of the network and decrease the potential for future outages.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrate 3+ years of progressive leadership in a Network Engineering function.

  • Proven ability to plan, manage, and execute projects in concert with other leaders

  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Highly developed organizational and planning skills, with a strong analytical approach to problem solving and data-driven decision making.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively convey highly technical information to senior executives.

  • High level of proficiency in router and switch configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance, with emphasis on Cisco and Juniper.

  • Must demonstrate integrity and maturity, as well as a constructive approach to overcoming challenges.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Proficiency in UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals

  • Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF and ISIS

  • Experience coding in at least one language

  • Ability to learn new development languages (Python and GO in heavy use)

  • Ability to pick up new concepts around network design and management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of working on multi vendor networks

  • Knowledge of Load Balancing
