Job Description

Summary of job scope:

The Senior Specialist Travel & Expense Owner, Business Technology (BT) is responsible for all aspects of BT in support of Organon’s Travel and Expense function. This role will report to the Director, PtP & HR.

The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Travel, Meeting and Card IT solutions. In this role, the candidate will have a thorough understanding of travel and expense related processes, including but not limited to travel planning, expense management, card integrations and payment processing. The candidate will also have a basic understanding of procurement processes, VAT determination and compliance reporting requirements. You will be responsible for translating business requirements into technical design and for all related documentation and testing. A key function of this role is the ability to partner successfully with 3rd party vendors, system integrators, SaaS vendors and internal team leads to ensure appropriate integration of processes and technologies across the solution.

Main responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for SAP Concur Travel and Expense application.

  • Be actively involved in the solution implementation to ensure that solutions are accurately scoped and delivered in line with business partner expectations.

  • Design workflows specific to business process outcomes and understand how to develop and integrate a proposed solution with the existing business and technical environment.

  • Develop and execute architectural strategy for design and implementation, create and document solution designs, and work with other solution delivery leads to identify options, impacts and recommendations.

  • Work with development, infrastructure, test, and production support teams to ensure proper implementation and operability of solutions.

  • Prepare, review and sign-off on functional and technical designs.

  • Interacts with System Integrators (SI), 3rd party vendors, SaaS partners to identify, evaluate and enable new technology products for the platform.

  • Provide project management, business analysis and technical analysis for non-ERP applications within Travel, Meeting and Card domain.

  • Actively communicate and collaborate with the functional leads within Source to Settle (StS) and Finance Business Management (FBM), Program managers, and/or business leads of assigned areas, to support the business needs of the company.

  • Ensure that assigned work is planned and coordinated across functional areas with other functional area leads and that any assigned consultants are working efficiently.

Education Level:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience is required.

Experience/Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Travel and Expense management within an IT organization

  • Minimum of 3 years working with System integrators or SaaS solution vendors

  • Must have worked in multi -country implementation/roll-out experience

  • Must have worked in development, configuration and testing environments

  • SAP Concur implementation experience

  • Working knowledge of AMEX or Citi card integration

  • Working knowledge regarding VAT reclaim process

  • Experienced in cross-functional team workings within a matrixed and remote environment. A project management mindset is desired

  • Business analysis and technical analysis, along with problem solving skills. End to end mind set.

  • Lead testing effort in development and quality environments. Guide users in UAT

  • Technical documentation, verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to create and sustain meaningful relationships.

  • Strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to effectively articulate and communicate findings and recommendations to the management team.

Preferred skills:

  • Understanding of SAP S4/HANA

  • Proficient level of experience and knowledge in SAP Concur and its typical ecosystem

  • Acted as technical/integration lead to a SaaS T&E or other cloud solution

  • Technical or functional lead on at least 1 full-lifecycle SAP Concur or other cloud implementation

  • Must have the ability to analyze complex business processes of all kinds, including cross functional and multi-divisional.
