What does a great Performance Test Engineer, Sr. do?

The Performance Test Engineer, Senior will be responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the DNA QA infrastructure to ensure all environments are available, up-to-date and usable for testers and at the same time contribute towards the overall quality of DNA and its surround products. The Tech lead is also directly involved in implementing the integration environment setup and configuration for connectivity with other Fiserv products as well as participate in the implementation of hardware and software needed to run and connect DNA with the other systems.

The Performance Test Engineer, Senior is also responsible for enabling high performance and technical execution, collaborating with Quality Assurance Project Leads and Configuration Management team, ensuring top quality deliverables for performance testing. Also, improve internal processes adhering to the SDLC. The successful candidate must be an excellent communicator, collaborative and action oriented.

In this role you will participate in the Performance enhancement activities for the Open Business Unit product suite, assist in the management of the QA System administration activities, configuration of the Integration environments with other Fiserv business units and work closely with Configuration Management team within the Account Processing product DNA Research & Development group to help in the quality improvement initiatives of DNA client commitments.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Perform trending and performance analysis along with QA Performance Engineers utilizing system/network monitoring and technical tools for systems and provide infrastructure capacity planning as well as database tuning recommendations to the product team. Also involved in evaluating tools, licensing for different third party products we use, Devices, servers and desktops, initiate purchase process and deploy them once received.

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the DNA QA System administration activities.

  • Contributes to the rolling technology roadmap for DNA and other products in relation to testing and compliance of support for new technologies. Review designs for new systems and confirms alignment and integration with established design principles and strategies.

  • Work with System Engineers to install builds, support systems and coordinate with multiple teams to execute solutions for various project and operational needs.

  • Configure the Integration of DNA core banking environments with Open Solutions/Fiserv surround products and other US-based third-party applications.

  • Build and configure and support integration environments. This task consists of direct involvement with teams for different Fiserv products who are spread across the globe and require co-ordination with different teams in different time zones. This collaboration is essential for real-time trouble shooting and timely issue resolution.

  • Work with Third party vendors to troubleshoot technology compatibility with Fiserv DNA core and surround products. Vendors involve Microfocus, SmartBear, Citrix, Microsoft, Skytap, Digital Check, Futurex, Alogent, BlueVoyant and VMWare amongst others.

  • Design, migrate and troubleshoot complex environments to meet business needs.

  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for systems as needed.

  • Maintains high-level systems documentation of technical environments for all products, review all installation and technical documentation for 100% accuracy.

  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and provide mentoring for system engineers for various Fiserv products apart from system administration.

  • Work with leadership and contributes to vision regarding technical progress and direction for R&D department. Work to improve systems and processes to enforce simplicity, stability and efficiency.

  • Perform troubleshooting and resolution on critical client reported issues in relation to build installation, networking and performance issues. May require real-time troubleshooting with clients and generate parallel performance replication in QA test environment working in collaboration in QA Performance Engineers.

  • Working knowledge of lab-based test equipment including scanners, printers, cash recyclers amongst others.

  • Experience organizing, directing, and managing technical support functions involving multiple, complex, and interrelated project tasks.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10 years’ experience required

  • 5 years of experience with Systems administration

  • 3 to 4 years networking and hardware

  • 1 year of experience with technical client support

  • Technical Knowledge: Performance monitoring tools for software quality, Programming languages and operating systems; Unix system administration, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, working knowledge with Microfocus LoadRunner, Performance Center & JMeter a plus; Citrix management, Cloud Management (AWS, IBM, Skytap, VMWare etc.) , DevOps and database administration a plus, effective project management techniques in Agile.

Travel required: 1 or 2 travel events per year

  • Role is performed remotely within the United States; not eligible in Colorado
