Are you passionate about creating relevant certification exams that are respected and coveted by the community?

If so, we are looking for you to join MuleSoft’s Training and Certification team. We are a critical enabler of customer success by supporting product sales, enabling partners, driving customer adoption, and growing the ecosystem of individuals with MuleSoft skills. Working closely with stakeholders, we develop role-based learning paths to teach and validate technical MuleSoft skills for developer, architect, and operations roles.

As an individual contributor on the training portfolio team, you will be responsible for the development, delivery, and maintenance of high quality, secure exams that are technically accurate and relevant. You will work closely with the training development team and our field and partner stakeholders to define certification requirements, and engage with Training, Services, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to recruit SMEs for item development workshops and technical reviews.

What you’ll achieve:

3 months:

  • Complete Salesforce and MuleSoft onboarding programs

  • Become familiar with MuleSoft’s existing training and certification portfolio including learning paths, roles, personas, and roadmap

  • Ramp up on our certification exam development tools and processes

  • Join exam development meetings and workshops for in flight certification projects with SMEs

  • Participate in regular exam performance reviews

  • Take over the creation and maintenance of exam questions and test forms in our training infrastructure

12 months:

  • Be responsible for the development and delivery of high quality, secure exams that are technically accurate and relevant

  • Own the exam development process for multiple exams

  • Maintain certification exams with relevant product updates

  • Develop and release new questions and question variants regularly for all exams

  • Lead the development and release of new certification exams

  • Work with training managers to procure SMEs as needed for projects

  • Work with internal and external stakeholder leadership (Training Delivery, Services, Customer Success) to develop question writers outside the Training Portfolio team

  • Lead item writing and item review sessions and workshops, ensuring the creation of high quality questions

  • Participate in the development of certification exam development guides and standards

  • Ensure adherence to the certification exam development guides and standards

  • Regularly review, analyze, and report on exam and individual question performance

  • Work with data forensics, web patrol, and SME teams to analyze and action exam vulnerabilities, threats, and fraud

  • Drive the enhancement and operationalization of item writing enablement materials and process

  • Create and maintain exam questions and test forms in our training infrastructure

  • Ensure the review and refresh all JTAs and blueprints for exams regularly

  • Continually strive to create meaningful certification exams more efficiently that are respected and coveted by the community

  • Identify and drive opportunities for improvements for our certification development tools and processes

What you’ll need to be successful:

Certification experience:

  • 2+ years successfully leading the development of technical certification exams in the software industry

  • Extensive knowledge of the different types and details of exam development methodologies

  • Experience developing an exam through the entire development process from ideation to release and secure maintenance

  • Experience organizing and leading successful working groups for job task analysis, item writing and development workshops, question writing training, item reviews, and standard setting sessions

  • Ability to analyze exam performance and plan and execute resulting action plans

  • Understanding of statistics and related concepts (e.g., normal distributions, p-values, pt biserial, hypothesis testing)

  • Ability to identify functionally (not technically) good and bad questions and to teach and enable SMEs to write them

  • Experience developing and ensuring standard development and enablement processes

  • Experience with multiple tools for item writing and test form creation

Other skills:

  • Excellent project management skills with ability to plan, manage, and deliver projects on time and within budget

  • Ability to effectively work with managers to source and schedule SMEs from multiple teams

  • Outstanding attention to detail, especially with regards to structure, grammar, and formatting

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong team player with ability to successfully collaborate with geographically distributed teams

  • Independent self-starter with proven time management and prioritization skills in a dynamic environment

  • Creative and innovative with a desire to continually improve processes

What would also be useful to have:

  • Tableau, R, or Python/Pandas coding skills

  • Experience with digital credentialing

For Colorado-based roles: Minimum annual salary of $104,000. You may also be entitled to receive bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
