The Role
Provide technical direction and definition of Lumen’s Network As a Service implementation across a broad range of network and applications. This will require a strong understanding of Lumen’s Layer 1, Layer 2, & Layer 3 networks and products, a strong understanding of Lumen’s Edge Compute implementation, and a working level understanding of software development methodologies. This role will serve as the primary representative for the Global Network Technology organization in a cross-functional team and will be expected to be a thought leader in how network capabilities are componentized and exposed to both internal and external consumers in order to align to the Network as a Service vision and methodology. Will be expected to contribute to the definition of the customer experience and product requirements, and will then translate product and customer experience requirements into specific network and application designs. This role will work across the Network Technology team to ensure alignment to the vision and experience, and will ensure delivery is coordinated across the broader cross function team. May also be expected to communicate vision and implementation with external audiences – customers, industry forums, etc.
The Main Responsibilities
Strong listening skills – ability to take feedback and requirements, process them into the key points and concepts
Strong communication skills – ability to clearly communicate requirements and intent to technical audiences, and also ability to concisely communicate technical concepts and plans to non-technical audiences
A strong understanding of network technologies including Internet, ethernet, IPVPN, Edge Compute, and Optical transport.
Strong Layer 2 knowledge of ethernet switching equipment and switching architectures used on Lumen’s Internet networks.
Working level experience with protocols used on Lumen’s Internet networks- BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, BFD and LLDP, and their use
Strong understanding of Ansible, Python, and other network automation methodologies
Able to indirectly influence the work of others to drive large projects to successful completion.
Ability to be a force multiplier in the way you lead teams through complex problems
Strong mentorship capabilities
Collaborate and influence architects and operations team members to make the projects a success from inception to delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and training.
Ability to apply approved technologies and architectures for application to specific requirements for plant additions to respond to requirements for growth, new services or network optimization.and economical means to complete the work are utilized.
