Job Description
An example day in the life of a Principal Member of Technical Staff in the Cloud Performance (PSR) Team could be about designing a high-end scale benchmark on a Kubernetes-based large Oracle Cloud Service, analyzing performance characteristics (regressions/improvements, wide variations, or intermittent spikes). Digging deeper at each layer – C/C++/Java application, Database, Operating Systems , Networking, Storage layer, and root causing the behavior. To be successful in this role the candidate must not be afraid to dig deep into the tech stack outside of their core domain expertise and apply their acquired domain knowledge over the years to the problem at hand and come to a conclusion. You relish the challenge of finding the needle in the haystack and we would love to hear your stories on such. To solve such a complex problem , the candidate needs to have a collaborative mindset as well as gravitas to stand their ground and communicate their point of view clearly in front of other senior engineers.

Job Requirements:

Can apply advanced technical skills, align with business needs, develop and run benchmarks using load generator tools, Optimize & improve designs, architecture, and workflows to meet KPIs
Perform in-depth analysis, and troubleshooting using profiling tools to identify hotspots and optimization opportunities, implement prototypes, and collaborate with teams to achieve results.
Provide technical consulting and share knowledge, implement/review new algorithms and designs, services, and conformance to architecture standards
Goal-oriented, can generate and analyze data, compile results with actionable insights, and share findings internally and externally with stakeholders.
Experience & Skills Set:
Candidate with 12+ years of software engineering (BS/MS in CS or related) with a solid grasp of architecture, algorithms, and design patterns around Cloud Computing and Enterprise Software
A solid foundation of analyzing and debugging distributed systems across many layers of the stack (e.g. You understand Linux /proc and correlate with application behavior. Good understanding of utilizing tools like Strace to do RCA of application performance, network statistics, and IO statistics to support your analysis and modify the design to circumvent such laws of physics bottlenecks).
Oracle database performance fundamentals are a plus
Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical & debugging skills with deep knowledge of, analytics and data warehouses and web applications.
Strong skills in enterprise application and stack (Java/J2EE, C++, Shell script /Pearl/ Python) with optimization experience with microservices (Docker/Kubernetes) architecture
Knowledge of developing AI software using Machine Learning, NLP, Speech processing, and related technologies is a plus
Oracle Analytics Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and Fusion Apps expertise is highly desirable, and knowledge of Cloud environments on Azure, AWS, or Google is a plus

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
