Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the AML Case Investigator will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing AML alert/case reviews, seeking to mitigate risks associated to financial crimes and suspicious activity.

  • Investigating transactions for potential indicators of financial crime, including money laundering and fraud.

  • Writing reports on the findings of investigations.

  • Drafting comprehensive SAR narratives and completing the SAR form in accordance with FinCEN guidelines.

  • Conducting an end-to-end and meticulous review of potential illegal or suspicious activity.

  • Gathering and analyzing data, identifying gaps and trends, and making recommendations related to baseline performance and structure, as well as established best practices and benchmarks.

  • Completing a time-sensitive and meticulous analysis of each instance of potential Money Laundering activity and/or suspicious financial activity potentially across multiple jurisdictions and countries.

  • Assessing of customer profiles and client data to identify whether activity is consistent with expected transactional activity.

  • Documenting findings in narrative style format, in a transaction monitoring case management system and prepare updates to Project Managers / Team Leads as appropriate.

  • Applying research and analytic techniques to digest complex information sets to make logical and adequately supported determinations in regard to unusual and potentially suspicious activity.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.

  • Recent college graduates.

  • Experience with AML risks associated with consumer banking.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Project, Access, and Visio.

    Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Writing skills are particularly important for this role.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Stellar analytical and research skills.

  • Creative problem-solving ability and a collaborative mindset.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • The ability to:

  • quickly learn new skills and subject matter;

  • apply newly acquired skills using logic and reasoning to sets of transaction data;

  • multi-task and effectively prioritize tasks;

  • excel within a team environment and independently; and

  • work more than 40 hours when needed.

    Additional notes:

  • No sponsorship is available for this position.

  • No investigative experience is required.

Additional Requirements

  • This role is available virtually from the Eastern or Central time zones.

  • The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.
