School Aged Child Care (SACC) Para Educator Openings
Full-Time and Part-time SACC Para Educator Openings -The Helena School District's School Aged Child Care (SACC) program has openings for full-time and part-time SACC Para Educators. Work locations are undetermined at this time. Opportunities are available Monday through Friday. Qualifications include: High School Diploma or equivalent; experience as a licensed or registered group or family day care provider or day care center staff person or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District. An age qualification may exist for licensure.
Entry-level pay range is $13.30 to $16.25 per hour depending upon education level, applicable experience and includes a comprehensive pro-rated benefit package.

SUMMARY : Responsible for assisting school aged child-care site manager in the overall operations of the daily program activities. Supervise students before and/or after school and during outside play. Responsible for representing the program and district in a positive way to students, staff, parents, and the school community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Other duties may be assigned.
Provides careful and effective supervision of children's activities as assigned by site manger by circulating among children, redirecting individuals into positive play and by pointing out alternative activities.
Assist children in maintaining standards of appropriate behavior and health habits set by the program by using non-punitive disciplinary methods and positive reinforcement strategies as demonstrated by the site manager (refer to Assertive Discipline Guidelines).
Cooperates with other program staff to create and maintain a harmonious and efficient environment.
Interacts positively with parents and refers appropriate questions and concerns to site manager, such as payment questions, scheduling and discipline.
Performs clerical (attendance sheets) and housekeeping duties as assigned such as snack preparation and clean up, project preparation and clean up, oversees the appropriate use and storage of equipment and materials.
Provides support in planned activities such as field trips, visiting resource persons, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assists with the supervision of students attending the school aged child-care program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); experience as a licensed or registered group or family day care provider or day care center staff experience or have a bachelors degree in education or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District. An age qualification may exist for licensure.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, guardians, and/or staff.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to meet multiple demands from several people. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, guardians and/or the school community. Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students, understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements, Board of Education policies and applicable state statutes.
