Oracle Senior Site Reliability Engineer - OCI | US Remote in Helena, Montana

Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

We are seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with knowledge on Cloud-native technologies to design, configure, automate and upkeep the infrastructure and microservices for our multi-tenant Process Automation Cloud service. As a member of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) - Process Automation Cloud Platform team, you will deliver multi-tenant cloud services to enable enterprise use cases for low-code intelligent business automation with pervasive AI/ML and microservices architecture on Kubernetes.

You will use your knowledge and experience on large scale distributed computing cloud environments and frameworks such as Docker, Kubernetes, Microservices, Kafka, Prometheus and work with various OCI cloud native platform services such as identity, security and networking.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Automate the deployment and patching of service components across worldwide cloud regions.

  • Design, architect, build, maintain and scale production infrastructure.

  • Develop monitoring dashboards, define metrics and alarms for efficient observability of our cloud services.

  • Troubleshoot operational issues, create and refine runbooks, resolve issues in collaboration with other teams.

  • Continuously learn and apply DevOps processes within OCI engineering.

  • Collaborate with geographically distributed teams and deliver while mentoring and helping other junior team members.

  • Contribute to process and operational improvements, root cause analysis, and reporting of operational metrics and incidents to leadership.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience.

  • Hands-on development experience with DevOps automation tools such as Terraform, Chef.

  • Experience working with Docker containers and Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with Log and infrastructure monitoring like Logstash/Grafana. RESTful services, APIs, JSON.

  • Proficiency with Linux, shell scripting, GIT.

  • Basic working knowledge on RDBMS and SQL.

  • Experience with a cloud platform such Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, GCP or Azure.

  • Proficiency with a programming language such as Java, Python, Javascript, C/C++, Go, etc.

  • A background in product development is a plus.
