Oracle Senior Software Development Manager in Helena, Montana

Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on leader with a strong technical background and experience managing 6-12 software development engineers to help us build, run, and scale the OCI DNS service. DNS is a tier-zero foundational service required for the OCI cloud to function. We are seeing rapid customer growth and we need to build many new capabilities and improve operational efficiency. This specific opportunity is in the DNS Control Plane team. This is an exciting time for DNS as we are evolving our architectures to support the next wave of growth for OCI business.

You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that requires agility, adapting as priorities shift, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions while growing the team. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. You should be comfortable working with architects, product management, and senior technical talent. You must be adept in both oral and written communications aimed at engineers, senior leadership, customers, partners, and other Internal teams.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Grow and lead an engineering team of 6-10 engineers for the DNS Control Plane team

  • Lead projects that span multiple infrastructure domains including networking, storage, and virtualization

  • Own engineering design, project planning, delivery.

  • Cultivate best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules

  • Drive operational excellence for the DNS control plane service

  • Collaborate with other leaders on developing and delivering product roadmaps, operational improvements, and critical cross functional customer commitments

  • Participate in a Manager On-call rotation for the DNS team.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience of growing and leading successful teams

  • 5+ years of experience leading and successfully delivering  large and complex technical projects from concept to production

  • Sound understanding and demonstrable experience building and operating large scale global distributed systems

  • Sound understanding of cloud architecture patterns, networking fundamentals, observability, and operations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrable Project Management experience in delivering large cross functional projects

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering field

US: Hiring Range: from $112,300 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
