    Helena School District # 1 has openings for part time and full-time Sign Language Interpreters - Para Educators.

    At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a Level I (Special Education) Para Educator, you contribute to this mission by assisting students’ daily training programs who need a little bit of extra help. You will work as part of a team of 70 serving 8,000 students at 18 campuses across Helena.

To become part of this dedicated team, you need:

  • An associate degree or at least 2 years of post-secondary education

  • Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training;

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.

    Who are we looking for:

  • Prior successful experience assisting deaf or hard of hearing students and an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher is preferred.

  • Certification in American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting is desired.

    Entry level salary range is $16.01 to $18.86 per hour depending upon education, applicable experience and EIPA score. A comprehensive benefit package is provided including but not limited to paid sick and vacation leave, 3 paid personal days, 9 paid Holidays, 9 paid school calendar related days, health benefit insurance including coverage during the summer break and retirement.
