What is this career opportunity?

This position is responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting state of Montana web portals such as Montana’s official state website, Montana.gov, and the State’s intranet the Montana Information Network for Employees (MINE). A major responsibility is in encouraging, directing, and supporting state agencies in their web presence and following W3C and Section 508 requirements. This position also maintains transparency.mt.gov to comply with U.S. PIRG requirements and data.mt.gov. Another duty is to support SITSD’s customers when they need assistance with web content, Montana.gov templates, web browsers, web analytics, graphic tools and other related Internet technologies. A major responsibility is maintaining and supporting the statewide web content management system, Cascade CMS. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, responsive design, best practices for website design, maintenance and support, and web content management systems. Preferred skills include knowledge of the Scrum Agile development methodology and JIRA. A preferred candidate will also have knowledge and experience supporting Microsoft IIS and Apache web servers and have application development skills.

What are we looking for?

*Education and Experience: *

  • A Bachelor’s degree in an information technology related field; AND

  • Applicable professional experience in areas described above; OR

  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience utilizing:

  • Scrum Agile development methodology and JIRA;

  • Microsoft IIS and Apache web servers; and

  • Application development skills.

Competencies:
