General Description:

The Applied Innovation Solutions Engineer will report directly to the Sr. Director, Applied Innovation Quantitative Solutions. This position will be a member of the Applied Innovation team, a highly innovative and entrepreneurial unit aimed at driving solutions in healthcare and pharmaceutical R&D through technological advances. The key focus for this role will be the application development, participate in many aspects of the software development lifecycle, such as design, code development, testing, and support. This role will also work on data ETL, integration and repository as efforts to build a common financial operation data warehouse. This roll will also involve in Finance system and process optimization, which requires both functional and technical knowledge, be able to partner with business stakeholders to come up with business process solutions that can meet business needs effectively and efficiently. Support cross-functional stakeholders and utilize existing or new system configuration to align business requirements.

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Supporting and works closely with multidisciplinary teams for data collection and management

  • Performing data input, organizing, cleaning/reconciliation activities across different data sources and databases

  • Creating and maintaining financial operation DataMart by leveraging PostgreSQL database on AWS cloud.

  • Leading projects that closely liaise with Applied Innovation finance function and various other lines of business to realize the department's strategic objectives Actively work with business stakeholders on identifying business needs and requirements, analyzing system capabilities and identifying gaps between business needs and existing processes and systems.

  • Coordinate system wide data integration and reporting. Provide analytical and development support in system implementation and integration projects Working collaboratively with business stakeholders and organizational users to assess reporting needs, and developing data sources and reports as necessary by aggregating, analyzing, and displaying the information in an efficient way using a variety of different reporting tools

  • Facilitate, direct and effectively document business requirement and translate to technical requirements for work to be done.

  • Support and participate in master data management process

  • Liaise between business and IT as necessary to ensure the coordination and alignment

  • Continuous identify areas of improvement and propose resolution on process and system to drive efficiency and promote scalability

  • Assist with special ad-hoc projects, research, and supplemental reporting as needed

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience managing similar initiatives with relational database design, business process analysis and automation, Finance system integration, Data modeling & visualization or a combination thereof

  • Critical thinking, creative problem-solving capabilities with an aptitude for self-learning

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment and comfortable communicating clearly with various business stakeholders and IT.

  • Excellent analytical skills and strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously

  • Must have Knowledge of SQL and one or more programming languages including C++, C, Java, Ruby, Python, R

  • Strong knowledge of relational database design and development, MS Office suite, BI tools (i.e. PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau etc.)

  • Knowledge of Python, R, MS Power Automate, Power App, Visio, JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab, AWS cloud

  • Experience in managing shifts in competing priorities or unforeseen challenges, without compromising quality, attention to detail and timeline deliverables while successfully communicating and working with supervisor, team members and external stakeholders.

  • Strong track record of analysis and fact-based decision-making

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, data science, or other analytics-related fields preferred

  • 5+ years' experience managing similar initiatives with PostgreSQL server database design, business process analysis and automation, Finance system integration, Data modeling & visualization or a combination thereof

  • 5+ years’ experience creating APIs. Knowledge working with client server architectures, networking protocols, application development and database architecture

  • Strong track record of ability to balance multiple tasks to achieve complex goals and to meet deadlines and senior stakeholders’ expectations.

Travel: Minimal travel, 1-2 times per year
