Overview of Job Function
The Senior Software Engineer on the DFE IVR team designs and develops highly scalable, full-stack software products. This includes the following responsibilities: (a) employing ASP.NET, Java, SQL/NoSQL databases; (b) introducing innovative technologies for telephony integration, UI and back-end features; (c) identifying and implementing performance improvements; and (d) providing support and subject matter expertise for customer implementation on our hosted platform. This role works with Product Management, Development, Operations and Client Services teams to develop creative solutions satisfying technical and business requirements. Additionally, the role provides recommendations to management as to process, technologies, or other improvements intended to benefit productivity, efficiency and/or quality of the solutions developed by the team.
Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities
Design, implement, and test high level software applications.
Research new technologies to improve product.
Contribute to definition of component and product architecture.
Work on complex projects with minimal supervision
Guide and assist less experienced team members.
Write high-quality, standardized code and unit tests that perform optimally in highly concurrent telephony solutions in our hosted environments.
Create UI and technical design specification documents.
Effectively communicate and collaborate to introduce new technologies, software standards, architecture/design concepts, engineering processes and techniques; and to provide subject matter expertise and technical support to customers and stakeholders.
Guide and mentor less experienced software developers.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
5 years’ experience in design and programming large scale applications through all phases of the software development life cycle including testing, implementation, and auditing
Ability to manage multiple priorities and parallel projects with strong organizational, time management, and project leadership skills.
Ability to lead small teams virtually.
Experience with technologies: Java, Spring Boot, junit, JBoss (WildFly), JGroups, Ant/Maven, ASP.NET, C# and Crystal Reports
Experience with IVR telecom solutions based on Freeswitch and SIP (telephony) protocols.
Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases: Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL
Experience with GIT/SVN, CI/CD, test automation and secure code development.
Ability to take ownership of assignments and drive to resolution.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Successful completion of a background screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search, OFAC, SS Verification, as well as credit and drug screening, where applicable and in accordance with federal and local regulations
Preferred Requirements
Experience with Confluence, JIRA & Agile methodology
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Aptitude to learn and apply advanced data analytics/visualization, and machine learning to products.
Experience with containerized runtime environments: Docker, Kubernetes
Experience with Cloud hosting services: AWS, Azure, GCP
Experience with Cloud Machine Learning services: SageMaker, Azure Machine Learning
Experience with Application Performance Management systems: Data Dog, ELK
Experience with IVR application development
